Factory Cameras spends a lot of time reading about, learning, and practicing photography. Sharing the best discoveries with our clients and subscribers is something we hope will nourish and inspire anyone who loves the art.

ONE MORE REASON TO JOIN

Factory Cameras' select sales inventory will be offered to X12 subscribers only. That's a significant perk because when that beautifully restored Nikon F2 or Leica M3 is ready for a new owner, you'll want a chance to buy it.

WHY IS IT CALLED X12?

The newsletter needed a name, of course. After a lot of back and forth, we decided on X12 which works well for a handful of reasons. →

X12 is memorable. Not many newsletters have a name that sounds like it could be a camera model—M6 (Leica), OM-1 (Olympus), F2 (Nikon). It might not be ultra descriptive, but it has something precise and industrial about it, so you know it's by Factory.

X12 is published 12 times a year—x12. Simple.

Film rolls mostly come in lengths that afford a multiple of 12 exposures—12, 24, or 36 frames can be made on standard rolls of film (or 24, 48 & 72 if shooting half-frame). And since this is a newsletter with a focus on film photography, it fits.

So the name suggests something about its publisher, its frequency, and its subject. We just feel it works. Hope you agree.
